Robert Filliou’s notion of the Eternal Network is a myth that has persisted and opened up a realm of possibilities affiliated with a utopian strain of Canadian practice. With the impulse to extend Filliou’s network and spirit, I gave away ephemera pennants, buttons, postcards, and rubber stamp prints to the artists I was meeting in the gallery and beyond. The idea was to have a moment of encounter at the time of giving away these objects, exchanging information on all levels, influencing one another not only in our art but in our daily lives.
